Nine Bandits gunned down in joint Police Operations

Nine armed bandits were killed in a gun duel with joint force of police and vigilante in Rafi Local Government Council of Niger State.
Recently, several attacks have been perpetuated by armed bandits in different local government areas in Niger state, terrorizing residents and destroying properties worth millions of naira, not to mention the rape of women and their children during the bandits’ operation.
However, the efforts to end siege by armed bandits yielded the desired result as nine of them were gunned down by the joint force.
Confirming the development to journalists, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Niger state Command, ASP Wasiu Abiodun, explained that the incident took place in Karaya, Mahanga and Bakachi villages in the early hours Saturday.
The PPRO added that the armed bandits engaged the joint force of police and local vigilante in a fierce gun duel at Makujeri village, a distance of less than four kilometer from Kagara headquarters of Rafi Local Government Area.
He explained further that the Kagara DPO mobilised operation puff adder fast enough to put an end to the gun duel, which claimed the lives of nine armed bandits.
Apart from killing of nine of the bandits, ASP Abiodun said 150 of cattle and 200 sheep rustled by the criminals were also recovered during the gun duel, which lasted for many hours.
When confirming the incident to journalists, the Chairman of Rafi Local Government Area, Alhaji Ismaila Modibo, advised residents of the affected area to maintain order and supply necessary information to the government when the need arises, in order to put an end to the attacks that has been happening in the local government.
