Three Police officers, arrested female suspect dies in ghasly motor accident
A tragic road accident in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, has claimed the lives of three police officers and a female suspect.
The officers, who had been dispatched from the Ondo Police Headquarters to apprehend the woman, were traveling back to Akure when their police van was violently struck by a trailer.
The trailer, reportedly coming from the Ijebu-Ode direction, lost control and collided with the vehicle, resulting in the fatal crash.
All four victims, including the suspect and the officers, died at the scene.
One additional officer, who suffered severe injuries, was quickly rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
Spokesperson for the Ondo Police, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the tragic incident, while the Ondo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Samuel Ibitoye, stated that overspeeding was a contributing factor to the accident.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the state hospital morgue in Ore.
