Teenager about to be killed for ritual rescued as Police doscover burial ground inside Shrine
Police operatives in Enugu State, working with Neighbourhood Watch personnel and local residents, have arrested three men suspected of ritual killing in Umuojor village, Ishiagu community, Ezeagu Local Government Area.
The suspects—Uche Kingsley Agumba (33), Ilo Nweze Onyedikachi (36), and Ejike Odinwankpa (38) were apprehended in connection with the abduction of a 13-year-old girl, who was rescued moments before she could be murdered for ritual purposes.
Spokesperson of the Enugu State Police Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the arrests and said the primary suspect, a native doctor known as High Chief Levi Onyeka Obu (alias “Ezeani” and “E-Dey-Play-E-Dey-Show”), fled the scene and remains at large.
He is a well-known figure in the community and reportedly used his shrine—an uncompleted building—for ritual activities.
During the operation, police discovered two decomposing bodies—one male and one female—buried in a concrete-sealed pit inside the building.
Investigations suggest the victims were recently killed by the suspects for ritual purposes.
Following the discovery, the Enugu State Government demolished the shrine, which belonged to the fleeing suspect, in accordance with state laws.
Commissioner of Police CP Bitrus Giwa, who visited the crime scene, praised the swift response and cooperation between security personnel and the local community.
He has directed the Command’s Tactical, Intelligence, and Investigation Units to intensify efforts to apprehend the fugitive and any other accomplices, vowing that justice will be pursued without compromise.
