Troops serving under Operation Hadin Kai have detained a suspected informant linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a routine security patrol in Borno State.

Security analyst for the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed the development in a post on X, noting that the suspect was picked up on June 20 by personnel of the 154 Task Force Battalion.

The arrested individual, identified as 37-year-old Umar Isah from Dawu village, was apprehended during a morning patrol aimed at strengthening defensive positions and preventing insurgent activity within the battalion’s operational area.

Authorities reported that no incriminating materials were found on him at the time of arrest.

Following preliminary procedures, military sources confirmed that he is expected to be transferred to the Military Intelligence Brigade under Sector 2 for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Makama further explained the broader significance of the operation, stating:
“The arrest is part of ongoing intelligence-driven operations by Operation Hadin Kai to disrupt terrorist networks, identify collaborators and deny insurgent groups access to information and logistical support within communities across the North-East,” he said.
