No coalition can unseat President Tinubu – CPC promises Buhari’s 12 million votes

Osita Okechukwu, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that no consensus exists to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

He made the remarks during a briefing to members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in Eke, Enugu State, following the group’s meeting with President Tinubu.

Okechukwu noted that the CPC has resolved to support Tinubu, expecting to deliver a “huge chunk of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari’s 12 million vote-bank” in the upcoming election.

When asked about the African Democratic Congress (ADC)’s claim of a “national consensus to unseat President Tinubu in 2027,” Okechukwu dismissed the notion.

He contended that the true “subsisting national consensus” is the rotation of the presidency between the North and South.

“The truism is that the majority of Nigerians both partisan and non-partisan adopted the national consensus that Presidency should rotate from the south to north and vice versa.

This is the subsisting convention instituted in 1999 by patriots, a golden milestone of the 4th Republic for equity, justice and fairness,” Okechukwu said.

He labeled those who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ADC as “Internal Displaced Politicians (IDP),” describing them as “desperate power grabbers” and advising them to return and fix the PDP they “destabilised.”

Okechukwu alleged that these “IDPs” are “crafting one party state by continuously breaching the rotation convention and unwittingly blaming President Tinubu for their unforced error.”

He questioned, “did Tinubu direct them to breach the rotation convention and Section 7 of the PDP Constitution in 2023 and today?”

He expressed his bewilderment that despite a recent public proclamation by “more rational leaders of the PDP” to zone the presidency to the South, “the ADC clan should come to terms that it is in the collective interest of all Nigerians to observe the subsisting rotation convention.”

Okechukwu lamented that “instead of adopting rotation convention consensus as a pragmatic model, ADC goons are in endless blame game, with intent to bury the immutable rotation convention, a glue which unite our polarised country.”

He reiterated his advice to the so-called “IDPs,” saying, “Please don’t mind the IDPs who after destabilising our sister political party, the PDP, became desperate power grabbers and today oiling ethno-religious levers and blaming President Tinubu for their unforced error.”

Okechukwu repeated his thesis that Tinubu would secure a “huge chunk of Buhari’s 12 million Vote Bank,” arguing that the northern electorate is “one of the most sophisticated in Nigeria.”

He dismissed the ADC’s hopes, stating, “ADC banks on the northern electorates as if they are quartered in a dormitory for picks at the whims and caprices of IDPs, it is a mirage, because they are one of the most sophisticated electorates in our dear country.”
