Man arrested by Police for publicly displaying AK-47 rifles in viral video
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested Anas Dauda, a 32-year-old resident of Jalingo B area, Lamorde Ward in Mubi South LGA, over alleged illegal possession of a firearm.
The arrest came after a video circulated on social media showing Dauda wielding an AK-47 rifle with three loaded magazines. In the footage, he reportedly issued threatening statements and claimed he planned to sell or lease the weapon, causing alarm among residents.
The video was quickly reported to the Police Command, prompting swift action. Officers from the Mubi South Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer, were deployed to locate and apprehend the suspect.
Police confirmed that Dauda was found and arrested in a remote area of Mubi town. Investigations are ongoing, focusing on recovering the firearm seen in the video and tracing its source.
The Commissioner of Police has tasked the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola to oversee the case, ensuring a discreet investigation and thorough prosecution.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje stated that the CP reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to public safety and warned that actions threatening security or violating the law would not be tolerated.
