Man allegedly murdered his Brother’s pregnant wife, disembers her body parts

Kwara State police have arrested Sylvester Enemo, 29, for the alleged murder of his brother’s wife, 39-year-old Esther Enemo, in Ilorin.

The victim, who was pregnant, was found dismembered in a nearby bush after her husband’s younger brother, Sylvester, was seen leaving their home with a suspicious bag.

Neighbors grew concerned after seeing a man, now identified as the suspect, leave the house early Thursday morning with a black plastic bag that was dripping a dark liquid.

A trail of blood led a neighbor to raise the alarm.

Police later discovered parts of the victim’s body, including an arm and a leg, in the nearby bushes.

Her head was not recovered.
The victim’s husband was reportedly out of town for business, leaving her home alone on Wednesday evening.

Residents said Esther was expecting a visitor and was seen earlier that night buying beer and soup before heading back indoors.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said, “The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public of a tragic incident that occurred in the early hours of Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Temidire community, Egbejila Road, Ilorin.
‎
‎”At about 9 am, a resident of the area reported a suspected foul play within the residence of one Mr. Ekene Enemo. Following a swift police response, a team of detectives visited the scene, where the dismembered body of Mrs. Esther Enemo (aged 39) was discovered in the bush behind her residence.
“Further search led to the recovery of other parts of her body concealed in a sack and dumped beneath a nearby community bridge. A suspect, one Mr. Sylvester Enemo (aged 29), younger brother to the victim’s husband, who was seen leaving the house a few minutes before the discovery of the incident, has been arrested in connection with the crime.
“In contrast, the husband, Mr. Ekene Enemo, has also been contacted for necessary clarification. The remains of the deceased have been evacuated and deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) morgue for autopsy.”

‎ Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, has ordered a full investigation into the case, promising that the command will “leave no stone unturned” to ensure justice is served.

He reassured residents that the police are dedicated to uncovering all the details of the incident and will bring all those responsible to justice.

Additionally, he noted that security measures have been strengthened across the state to protect lives and property.

“We urge residents to continue to cooperate with the police by providing useful information that can aid ongoing investigations and security operations.
