All arrangements concluded as another Governor sets to join APC
All arrangements have been concluded for the formal defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
The event, scheduled to hold in Enugu, the state capital, will also witness the defection of several political officeholders, including national and state legislators, members of the state executive, and party leaders from wards and local governments across the state.
APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and Deputy National Chairman (South), Hon. Emma Eneukwu, had earlier hinted at the governor’s impending move during the inauguration of a seven-member caretaker committee for the party in Enugu State. They described the move as part of a broader strategy to consolidate the APC’s presence in the South East.
Speaking to journalists at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja after being sworn in, the newly appointed Enugu State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, confirmed that Governor Mbah and his political allies would be formally received into the party on October 14.
The confirmation followed the decision of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) on Thursday to dissolve the Enugu State Working Committee (SWC) and install a caretaker team to steer the party’s activities pending fresh congresses.
