Former Head of State IBB, ex–Govs, Senators over 9,000 others, owe Govt outstanding payments for Abuja land – Wike

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has revealed that a total of 9,532 individuals have outstanding payments for land allocated to them in Abuja.

In a recent Facebook post, Olayinka highlighted that several high-profile figures are among those in arrears. Former Military Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), owes N152 million for a plot of land in the prestigious Asokoro area.

Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, is indebted to the sum of N950,000 for a plot in Bazango, while Senator Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto South is behind by N18 million for land in Carraway Dallas.

Olayinka’s post sheds light on the significant number of individuals yet to settle their land obligations in the nation’s capital.

“A few days ago, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), published a list of 9,532 alleged land title debtors in Abuja.

“They have two weeks to settle their outstanding bills.

“Among those listed as defaulters is former Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), who owes N152 million for a plot of land in Asokoro.

“Other notable defaulters include Samuel Ortom, former governor of Benue, who owes N950,000 for a plot of land in Bazango, and Aminu Tambuwal, senator representing Sokoto south, who owes N18 million for a plot of land in Carraway Dallas.

“If you are among the 9,532 people, go and pay ooo.”

Recently, under Wike’s leadership as FCT Minister, the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) has been carrying out demolitions of properties in the FCT. Additionally, several individuals have had their land revoked during his tenure.
