Woman arrested for alleged plot to kidnap United States President Donald Trump
A Lafayette, Indiana, woman was arrested in Washington, D.C., last week for allegedly plotting to “kidnap and assassinate” President Donald Trump.
Nathalie Rose Jones, 50, was taken into custody on August 16, 2025, following an investigation by the U.S. Secret Service.
According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, Jones allegedly posted graphic threats on her Facebook and Instagram accounts.
One post reportedly stated, “I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disembowelling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present.”
She also wrote about an “arrest and removal ceremony” for Trump.
The Secret Service began investigating after identifying Jones as the author of the posts.
During an interview with agents on August 15, Jones reportedly admitted to making the threats, stating she would try to kill the president “if given the opportunity.”
She claimed her motive was to avenge those who died during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, she later recanted, telling agents she no longer intended to harm Trump.
Jones has been charged with two federal offenses: threatening the life of the president and transmitting interstate communications containing threats to kidnap or injure another person.
Each charge carries a potential sentence of up to five years in prison.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro stated, “Threatening the life of the President is one of the most serious crimes and one that will be met with swift and unwavering prosecution.”
Reports indicate that Jones has publicly acknowledged her struggles with mental illness in her social media posts. There is currently no public record of her legal representation.
