Teenage Boy in hot soup allegedly for assaulting Police officer on duty
An 18-year-old Suspec, Mohammed Bakura, on Monday appeared before an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting a police officer on duty.
Bakura, whose address was not provided, was charged with three counts of assault, conduct likely to cause breach of peace and threatening violence.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 22 at about 9.00 a.m. at Aleje junction Area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
He alleged that the defendant assaulted a female police officer, ASP Patricia Dudu, while she was performing her lawful duties.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by assaulting the officer and causing her bodily harm.
He said the defendant also threatened the life of another female police officer attached to the Isagamu Road Division.
The offences contravene Sections 56, 168(D) and 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr B.A. Sonuga, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with a surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until July 3 for mention. (NAN)
