More results from Ekiti Guber election as announced by INEC
The All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded an early advantage in Ikere-Ekiti on Saturday as results from several polling units in the Ekiti State governorship election began to emerge.
According to The Nation, amongst the notable outcomes was the result from the polling unit of the Olukere of Ikere-Ekiti, His Royal Majesty Oba Ganiyu Ayodele Obasoyin (Okomolese II), where the APC secured victory over its closest rival, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Results from the Olukere’s Unit:
APC: 127 votes
PDP: 98 votes
ADC: 1 vote
Void: 1 vote
The APC also won Unit 1, Ward 11, with 138 votes to PDP’s 106. However, Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye lost her ward to the PDP.
Other early results from Ikere: Igbele/Aroku Ward: APC 104, PDP 80
Ugele/Aroku (Ajaka Hall) Unit 007: APC 134, PDP 67
Afao/Kajola Ward Unit 16: APC 106, PDP 71
Oke-Osun Ward Unit 1: APC 105, PDP 78
The election was conducted in a generally calm atmosphere across Ikere-Ekiti, with many voters turning out early to cast their ballots. Security operatives were strategically deployed across polling units and collation centres to maintain order, although the competitive nature of the contest created moments of anxiety among party supporters.
As collation progressed, APC supporters became increasingly optimistic about the party’s prospects, while opposition parties maintained that it was too early to make definitive conclusions, stressing that the final outcome would depend on the completion of results collation across all affected polling units and wards.
