Speaking in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on Thursday to commemorate Anti-Corruption Day, ICPC’s Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Mrs. Ekere Usiere, called on Nigerians to find the courage to expose corrupt activities and take collective action in tackling the menace.

The event was hosted by the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).

Usiere emphasized the urgency of confronting corruption, stressing that the failure to act decisively could jeopardize the nation’s future.

“Corruption has crippled Nigeria, stalling our economic growth and undermining our social structures. If we don’t defeat corruption, it will ultimately destroy Nigeria,” she warned.

She underscored the critical role of whistleblowing in the fight against corruption, urging Nigerians to overcome the fear and barriers cultural, psychological, and systemic that prevent them from speaking out.

“If you see something wrong, speak up. If you hear something, speak up. We cannot allow fear to silence our voices in the fight for a better Nigeria,” Usiere urged.

Earlier in the event, NCDMB Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omotsola Ogbe, reiterated his commitment to rooting out corruption within the board.

He highlighted the importance of educating the younger generation on the damaging effects of corruption.

“As we mark International Anti-Corruption Day, we aim to raise awareness among our youth about the dangers of corruption and its long-term impact on our nation’s development.
