Wanted Boko Haram Kingpin who escaped Military bombardment in North–East arrested in Ekiti
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ekiti State Command has successfully apprehended a suspected Boko Haram member, Isiah Jafaru, also known as Nabida.
Jafaru, believed to have fled the Northeast amidst ongoing military pressure from the Nigerian Army, was captured in Iloro Ekiti.
His arrest followed a strategic operation initiated by NSCDC operatives, who had been monitoring his suspicious activities in the local community.
According to the NSCDC spokesman for Ekiti, SC Afolabi Tolulope, early investigations confirmed that Jafaru holds a senior position within the notorious terrorist group.
He had reportedly relocated to Iloro Ekiti while other Boko Haram members are believed to be dispersed across the state.
NSCDC Ekiti State Commandant, Dr. Sosina Paul, stated that the command’s Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Unit had been actively pursuing Jafaru as part of broader efforts to prevent the regrouping of terrorists in the region.
Dr. Sosina also emphasized the command’s commitment to maintaining security, especially during the festive season, and assured residents of continuous collaboration with other security agencies to ensure public safety.
As part of the next steps, the suspect will be handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further interrogation and investigation.
Dr. Sosina also urged the people of Ekiti to stay alert and maintain a strong sense of community vigilance.
He particularly cautioned traditional rulers and landowners to be wary of individuals using their properties especially secluded forests as possible hiding spots for criminal elements.
