Wike’s aide reveals why Atiku can abandon his coalition against President Tinubu
The spokesperson for Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lere Olayinka, has explained why any opposition movement spearheaded by former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar is doomed to fail.
According to Olayinka, Atiku would quickly abandon his opposition stance and align with the All Progressives Congress (APC) if President Bola Tinubu were to offer him a deal to succeed him in 2027.
He made the comments while ridiculing Atiku over his recent visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Atiku, accompanied by political figures including former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, and former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam, paid a visit to Buhari at his Kaduna residence on Friday. Atiku claimed the visit was simply to offer Sallah greetings.
However, Olayinka dismissed that explanation, sarcastically suggesting that if Atiku was truly paying respects, he should have gone to Abeokuta to visit former President Olusegun Obasanjo in honor of Lisabi Day instead.
Posting on Facebook, Olayinka wrote: “Those of us who have sense know that any opposition being led by Atiku is a failure from the beginning.
“Reason is, if tomorrow President Tinubu calls Atiku and tells him, ‘Don’t worry, I will hand over to you in 2027, just join APC,’ he (Atiku) will be in the APC immediately.
“I am still waiting for Atiku to carry body and go to Abeokuta to pay Lisabi Day homage to OBJ sha.
“Also, we are doing Egungun Festival in my hometown next month. Let him not forget to pay Egungun Festival homage to us in Okemesi Ekiti.”
