We are proud of you: Governor mourns death of fallen soldier Brigadier General Oseni Braimah,

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, describing his passing as a painful loss to both Edo State and the nation.

In a condolence message issued on Saturday through his Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Ebojele, the governor paid tribute to the late senior military officer, whom he described as a proud son of Edo who died while in active service to Nigeria.

Okpebholo said Brig. Gen. Braimah embodied courage, discipline, and a strong sense of duty, adding that he remained committed to the peace, unity, and security of the country until his death.

He further described him as a symbol of patriotism and sacrifice, noting that his service reflected values essential to national stability.

“This loss is not only felt by the Nigerian Army, but also by Edo State and the country at large. While we mourn, we are equally proud of the life he lived and the service he rendered,” the governor said.

The governor extended condolences to the bereaved family, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and all those affected, urging them to take comfort in the legacy left behind by the fallen officer.

He also prayed for the repose of his soul, adding, “Rest on, brave son of Edo State. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.”

Brig. Gen. Braimah was reportedly among those killed during an attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State on Wednesday night.

The assault targeted the 29 Task Force Brigade of Operation Hadin Kai and was carried out by heavily armed insurgents who overran the facility for several hours, destroying parts of the base and setting military vehicles ablaze.

Chairman of Kaga Local Government Area, Zanna Ajimi, confirmed that the brigade commander was among those killed in the attack.
