Two Command CPs strategize to combat interstate crimes
The Commissioners of Police for Benue and Enugu States, Mr Innocent Emenari and Mr Mamman Bitrus Giwa, have resolved to strengthen collaboration and address emerging security challenges affecting both states.
The duo made the resolve during a strategic operational meeting held in Makurdi, Benue on Wednesday.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Spokesman of Enugu State Police Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, in Enugu.
Ndukwe said that the commissioners identified the infiltration of criminal elements and their connivance with unscrupulous elements within border communities as major enablers of interstate crimes in both states.
“Consequently, they resolved to enhance interstate crime-fighting synergy through improved intelligence sharing, coordinated operations, and joint deployment of resources to combat violent crimes across border communities.
“The focus areas of this renewed collaboration included: Ado, Ogbadibo and Okpokwu Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Benue, as well as Igbo-Eze North, Isi-Uzo and Udenu LGAs in Enugu State.
“The meeting, attended by senior operational officers from both state Commands, is to be held routinely to sustain the joint efforts,” he said.
It would be recalled that the two State Police Commands recently collaborated to arrest criminal suspects operating across both states, rescuing kidnapped victims and recovering stolen vehicles, laptops, mobile phones and other items. (NAN)
