The police in Ibadan on Friday arraigned a woman, Titilope Bamidele, who allegedly attacked three policemen.

Bamidele, 40, is charged along with a man, Aliu Ajibola, 35, before a Grade A Customary Court sitting at Mapo, Ibadan.

Bamidele and Ajibola, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, breach of public peace and assault.

The President of the court, Mrs S. Akintayo, admitted them to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties each.

She ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation.

Akintayo ordered that the duo should be kept at the Agodi custodial facility if they couldn’t meet their bail conditions.

She adjourned the case until May 15 for trial.

The prosecution, Insp Ayodele Ayeni, had told the court that the defendants committed the crime on March 13, at 5. 30 p.m., at Vetinary area of Ibadan.

Ayeni said that the defendants were arrested after causing breach of peace by attacking policemen: Bashiru Sodeeq, Ishola Mukaila, and Abdulhakeem Qowiyyu.

The prosecutor said that the policemen were attached to the Mokola Police Division in Ibadan.

According to the prosecutor, the duo with others at large obstructed the policemen from performing their lawful duties which led to the escape of one Bolaji Bamidele from police custody.

He added that the defendants assaulted Qowiyyu by slapping him, giving him a fist blow and tearing his uniform.

Ayeni said that the offences contravened Sections 249, 356 and 351 of the Criminal Code, Law of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN)
