Electricity Distribution Company announces 25-day blackout
Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) announced today a 25-day planned power outage affecting parts of the state, starting Monday, July 28, 2025.
In a notice shared on its X account, EKEDC stated the daily blackouts will run until August 21, 2025, occurring between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day.
The reason for the extended disruption, according to EKEDC, is crucial maintenance work being carried out by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330 kV line.
This essential work aims to improve the overall reliability of power supply in the long term.
“EKEDC has announced a daily planned power outage from Monday, 28 July, to Thursday, 21 August 2025, due to essential maintenance work by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330 kV line.
“The outage will occur between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day, affecting several parts of Lagos and other serviced areas. During this period, residents should expect intermittent electricity supply and load shedding across the Eko Disco network,” the Disco stated.
