REVEALED Two more States may decamp from PDP to join APC

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has hinted that Rivers and Bayelsa states may soon join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), further expanding the party’s influence in the South-South region ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Akpabio made the remarks on Saturday during a grand reception in Uyo, held to formally welcome Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, into the APC.

The event was attended by key members of the Progressive Governors Forum and prominent party leaders.

Expressing optimism about the party’s growing momentum in the region, Akpabio said, “Governor Sheriff of Delta State, thank you for joining the progressive family and moving the South-South in a progressive direction. Governor Umo Eno, after you, Rivers State will just tumble, after Rivers, Bayelsa will join.”

He also commended the APC’s recent success in Edo State, saying, “We won the election with Governor Otu and produced the amiable Monday Okpebholo. Congratulations once again on your victory.”

Governor Eno had earlier signaled his intention to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to ongoing internal conflicts.

On June 6, he formally defected to the APC at a well-attended event in Uyo.
