Group condemns IGP’s recent Police transfer of officers

A group, called the South-South Chronicle, has come out to condemn the recent Police transfer by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), where only Police officers of South South origins were transferred to the Northern part of the country.
Speaking to newsmen in Asaba, the National Co-coordinator of the group, Barrister Happy Oharisi, condemned the action, saying the issue should be reviewed to ensure the it followed due process.
Oharisi, was unhappy at the mode of the exercise, adding, the IGP ought to have allowed the Police women to work within their domain instead of transferring them to the Northern part of the country, separating them from their spouses and families.
He noted that it was even more annoying that those officers in foreign missions were transferred in absentia and are being directed to resume in their new stations within 24 hours.
Oharisi said: “Police women that the Inspector General ought to have transferred within their domains were being transferred to Adamawa and Borno states even at this point where coronavirus pandemic is ravaging the nation.”
