President Tinubu orders nationwide rice distribution to support Nigerians during ongoing Ramadan, Lent
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to commence the distribution of rice across all states of the federation to assist Nigerians observing Ramadan and Lent.
The directive was disclosed in a statement released on Saturday, which said the initiative is designed to provide relief to families during the ongoing fasting seasons observed by Muslims and Christians nationwide.
According to the statement, the intervention underscores the importance of compassion and solidarity during the two sacred periods for millions of Nigerians.
To ensure wide coverage, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors have been tasked with using their grassroots network to coordinate the distribution through structures at the state, local government and ward levels so that households across the country can benefit.
The president also recalled that a similar effort was implemented during the Christmas celebrations last year, when rice was distributed nationwide to support citizens during the festive season.
Tinubu said the continuation of the initiative reflects his administration’s determination to support Nigerians during important religious and cultural moments while strengthening national unity and shared values.
The programme is expected to benefit both Muslim and Christian communities as part of efforts to ensure that the compassion associated with Ramadan and Lent translates into practical support for families across the country.
