Police officer arrested for invading Courtroom during proceedings to effect arrest
The Imo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the actions of officers who disrupted a court proceeding to make an arrest.
The incident took place at the Orogwe Customary Court in the Owerri West Local Government Area.
According to reports, the officers involved were mobile police personnel assigned to the Ogbaku Police Station.
One of the officers, identified as Abubakar Mohammed, was apprehended at the scene and is currently in custody.
In a statement, the Public Relations Officer of the Imo State Police Command, ASP Okoye, confirmed that the situation has been swiftly addressed and is now under control.
He reassured the public that the officers involved have been arrested and are facing internal disciplinary action.
Okoye emphasised that the Command has a zero-tolerance policy for unprofessional behavior and will take decisive action against any officers who violate established protocols.
He said: “They will face trial, and appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken against them.
“The Imo State Police Command remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that orderliness is maintained at court premises for the effective administration of justice.”
