Police launch manhunt for Cultists after viral video shows Initiation for small Boys

The Anambra State Police Command is appealing to the public for urgent information following the emergence of a distressing social media video that allegedly depicts the cult initiation of a minor in the state.

The video, which shows a group of young males involved in an unlawful initiation ceremony, was intercepted by the police.

While the exact location remains unconfirmed, initial assessments suggest the incident may have occurred within an Anambra community.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has taken a firm stand, condemning the act as not only criminal but also “deeply offensive to public morals” and the protection of minors.

CP Orutugu has ordered an immediate and multi-pronged investigation. He has directed specialised operatives from the Anti-Cultism Squad, Juvenile Welfare Unit, and the State Intelligence Department to work together.

Their mission is to: Verify the video’s authenticity and origin, Identify the young victim and ensure his safety and wellbeing, Apprehend all individuals involved or complicit in the deplorable act.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, reiterated the CP’s strong condemnation of any form of child abuse, including “indoctrination, harassment, psychological grooming, or forced initiation,” warning that such acts will not be tolerated in Anambra State.

The police are urging anyone with credible information that can aid the investigation to come forward. Informants are assured that their identity will be protected, and all reports will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
