Sent to the terrorist thorn part of the country, aggrieved policemen have cried out for not being paid their basic allowances. The mobile policemen were sent to Maiduguri, Borno state for the past four months to serve their fatherland but they claim that the police authorities are depriving them of their basic allowances payment which include their feeding allowances and others.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, one of the officers claimed that while they’re busy putting their lives on the line to serve their fatherland, the authorities are not giving them what they deserve and this has been making it difficult to cater for the family they left behind.

Another officer lamented the hardships they’ve been exposed to for the past four months they’ve been posted to Borno state.

“We were mobilised from different states on special duty to Maiduguri, Borno State. We have our families we left behind who depend on us. The non payment of our allowances has affected us and our immediate family members,” he said.

Another officer added that while other officers that are working with the military in the joint task force are being paid their basic allowances, hundreds others are owed theirs, leaving them penniless. He added that those working with the Maiduguri command are the most affected while some others working with Borno State Commissioner of Police.

The officers however vowed to continue discharging their duties by saving lives and properties while hoping that the IGP would investigate their complaints and find a lasting solution to it.
