Police vow to take action against Officers seen in viral video wearing cult caps, acting like culists

The Imo State Police Command has begun a formal investigation into a viral video that appears to show police officers engaging in “unprofessional conduct” in Owerri, the state capital.

The footage, widely circulated on social media, captures uniformed officers wearing berets and caps typically linked to the Vikings confraternity, also known as ‘Denmark (DNKI)’.

Throughout the clip, the officers chant “men mount” and are seen firing shots into the air in what many have described as a disturbing display.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Imo, Aboki Danjuma, ordered an immediate and thorough probe, condemning the officers’ actions as “unethical and unbecoming” of members of the Nigeria Police Force.

In a statement issued on Friday by the command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye, the CP assured the public that disciplinary steps would follow once investigations are concluded.

“The commissioner of police strongly condemns the conduct as unethical and unbecoming of police officers,” the statement read.

“He assures the public that the matter is being handled with utmost seriousness and that upon conclusion of investigations, the officers involved will face serious disciplinary measures in accordance with police regulations.”

The command also restated its dedication to upholding professionalism and enforcing the law with integrity, pledging to maintain public trust and accountability.
