Peter Obi, Jonathan in closed door meeting amid speculations ahead of 2027 election

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, paid a visit to former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja on Thursday.

The meeting was disclosed in a post on Obi’s verified X (formerly Twitter) handle,

The former Anambra State governor described Jonathan as his “elder brother, statesman, and leader.” He said their closed-door meeting was “fruitful” and focused on national issues.

The meeting comes at a time when political circles are abuzz with speculation linking both Jonathan and Obi as potential presidential hopefuls under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He wrote: “Today in Abuja, I met with my very dear elder brother, statesman, and leader, former President Goodluck Jonathan @GEJonathan. We had a fruitful closed-door meeting and discussed the state of our dear nation.”
