Peter Obi given green light as NDC zones 2027 presidential ticket To South, with single term
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially zoned its 2027 presidential ticket, for a single four-year term, to southern region of the country.
The decision was reached on Saturday during the party’s national convention after delegates adopted a resolution presented on the convention floor.
The motion was moved by Afam Victor and seconded by Seyi Sowumi before it was unanimously adopted by party members.
As part of the arrangement, the party also resolved that its presidential ticket for the 2031 election would be ceded to the northern region.
In another major decision taken at the convention, delegates ratified all members of the party’s National Executive Committee.
The ratification followed a motion moved by Senator Victor Umeh, who represents Anambra Central Senatorial District.
Additionally, it was determined that following the completion of the four-year term, the presidential ticket will be automatically allocated to the North.
The resolution has paved the way for Peter Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, along with other southern candidates, to proceed to purchase the party’s presidential nomination form ahead of the primaries.
