Man sentenced to fve years imprisonment for sexually abusing dead passenger

A Court has sentenced a 44-year-old man, Felix Rojas, to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexually abusing the corpse of a fellow passenger who died on a Manhattan subway train.
Rojas was sentenced on Wednesday in connection with the death of 37-year-old Jorge Gonzalez, who reportedly lost consciousness while travelling on an R train in April 2025, according to Sky News Australia.
Prosecutors said surveillance footage showed Rojas approaching the victim after realising he was unresponsive. Court documents also indicated that he searched through Gonzalez’s pockets during the incident.
Authorities said the Brooklyn resident later turned himself in to police about three weeks after the incident, after recognising himself in surveillance images released by investigators. He initially denied the allegations during questioning.
Following his guilty plea, the court also imposed an additional 15-year period of supervised release after he completes his prison term.
Immigration officials reportedly identified Rojas as a Mexican national who had previously made several unsuccessful attempts to enter the United States illegally.
The victim, Jorge Gonzalez, had lived in the United States for nearly two decades, holding various jobs to support relatives in Mexico.
Family members described him after the sentencing as a hardworking and devoted father who laboured in construction, restaurant, and service roles to provide for his loved ones.
