NSCDC, Nigerian Police strengthen collaboration to combat crime

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police Force, FCT Commands have renewed their commitment to joint security operations aimed at sustaining peace and combating crime in the FCT.

The commitment was reinforced during a courtesy visit by the newly deployed Dantawaye Miller, FCT Commissioner of Police, to Dr Olusola Odumosu, NSCDC FCT Commandant in Abuja.

Odumosu said that in as much as the FCT seemed relatively peaceful at the moment, there was need to ensure appropriate security measures are emplace to sustain the tempo.

He promised the newly deployed CP of the command’s cooperation in every area of securing the FCT.

“We must continue to forge ahead and come to a round table to ensure that we move FCT to another level, where people can go about their normal businesses without fear of any criminal attack,” the commandant said.

According to him, the visit symbolises the continuity of an already existing relationship between both security agencies.

“The best way forward in ensuring heightened security in the FCT is robust synergy and collaboration between security agencies.

“Seeing you today has given me hope and confidence that the days of unhealthy rivalry is over and a more united front against criminals in the FCT is in place.

“We are all one and the same, so whether at the upper or lower echelon, we should see each other as one because the only difference between us is the uniform we put on.

“So, if we can begin to see each other from that point of view, I want to believe that we will have a seamless operation and success against these criminals,” he said.

Earlier in his remarks, the CP reiterated that security was an enormous task and advocated for multi agency collaboration to attain positive results.

Miller appealed for flawless cooperation in terms of intelligence gathering and sharing, pledging absolute commitment to ensure that the synergy continue to yield successes.

” There is need for enhanced collaboration between both organisations to forge a way forward to ensure proper protection of the territory,” Miller said.

ThePolice boss said security was a collective responsibility, posing that the importance of eradicating inter-agency rivalry cannot be over emphasised, adding that security organisations are to complement each other.

The CP maintained that there was need to sustain the calmness the metropolis is witnessing now through developing new strategies to foil crimes in the FCT.(NAN)
