Nine surveyors working on site kidnapped by gunmen as abductors demand N100 million ransom

On Tuesday, not less than nine surveyors were kidnapped in Ondo State when they were working at a location in the Akure North Local Government Area along the Ilu-Abo axis.

According to sources, the kidnappers contacted the victims’ relatives and demanded a ransom of N100 million, which was subsequently lowered to N50 million following discussions.

According to an unnamed source, the families had raised N20 million to secure the victims’ release; however, the kidnappers refused to accept the money and insisted on demanding N50 million.

In response to the ongoing wave of kidnappings and killings, women in Akure, the state capital, staged a protest calling for an immediate end to the violence.

The protesters, marching from Ijemikin to the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, decried the growing insecurity in the region.

The group, led by concerned women from the community, voiced their frustration over the increasing number of abductions and killings in the state.

They demanded that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa take swift action to tackle the rising activities of kidnappers, armed herdsmen, and other criminal elements terrorizing the area.
