Magistrate Court orders TikTok stars to marry each other within 60 days by force

A Kano Magistrate Court has directed popular TikTok personalities Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda to formalise their relationship through marriage within 60 days.

The ruling follows their arrest by the Kano State Censorship Board after videos showing the duo in what the board described as “immoral and demeaning acts” went viral on social media.

According to the board, the clips — which showed Wushirya shirtless and displaying affectionate behaviour toward Yar Guda, a dwarf woman — violated state laws prohibiting the production or distribution of obscene and sexually suggestive content.

Delivering judgment on Monday, Presiding Magistrate Halima Wali instructed the Hisbah Board to supervise the marriage and ensure it is completed within the 60-day timeframe. She warned that failure to comply would constitute contempt of court and further directed the chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to oversee the execution of the order.

In recent months, the Kano State Government has stepped up its crackdown on social media influencers, skit makers, and musicians accused of promoting indecency or breaching censorship regulations.
