Lifeless body of NDLEA Commander found inside Hotel room

The Cross River State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Morrison Ogbonna, was found dead in his hotel room in Calabar in the early hours of Thursday.

According to sources, Ogbonna’s body was discovered by his colleagues, who had arrived at the hotel to pick him up for an official assignment.

After repeated attempts to reach him went unanswered, officers alerted the hotel staff.

With assistance from the management, the room was opened, and Ogbonna was found unresponsive.

“He didn’t answer knocks or phone calls, so we contacted the hotel management,” said a source familiar with the incident, who pleaded anonymity with Vanguard.

“When the room was finally opened, he was found dead.”

Commander Ogbonna had only recently assumed his post in Cross River, having been transferred to the state in August to succeed Rachel Umebuali.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Irene Ugbo-Obase, has confirmed the incident. Further details surrounding the circumstances of his death remain unclear.
