Level of unprotected teenage s3x ‘worryingly high’ as WHO lists affected regions
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has expressed concern over a significant decline in condom use among sexually active adolescents since 2014, leading to a surge in unprotected sex and associated risks.
In a statement on Thursday, a new report from the WHO’s Regional Office for Europe, said the data revealed a worrying trend of decreased condom use.
According to the report, the decreased condom use is putting young people at greater risk of sexually transmitted infections, unsafe abortions, and unplanned pregnancies.
“The report, based on the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study, surveyed over 242,000 15-year-olds across 42 countries in Europe, central Asia, and Canada between 2014 and 2022.
“The findings indicate a pervasive decrease in condom use, with the proportion of sexually active adolescents using a condom at last intercourse falling from 70 per cent to 61 per cent among boys and 63 per cent to 57 per cent among girls between 2014 and 2022.
“Furthermore, nearly a third of adolescents reported using neither a condom nor the contraceptive pill at last intercourse, with socioeconomic differences also playing a role.
“Adolescents from low-income families were more likely to report not using protection than those from more affluent families,”it said.
Dr Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, attributed the decline in condom use to a lack of comprehensive sex education, which had come under attack in recent years.
He emphasised the importance of equipping young people with the right knowledge to make informed decisions about their sexual health, ultimately safeguarding their overall well-being..(NAN)

U.S. President Biden pardons his Son as Trump disagrees, says its ‘miscarriage of justice’
U.S. President Biden pardons his Son as Trump disagrees, says its ‘miscarriage of justice’
U.S. President Joe Biden on Sunday said he has pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, even after promising previously that he would not do so.
The president’s 54-year-old son had pleaded guilty to federal tax charges after being found guilty of charges relating to gun possession and drug use in two separate trials.
The sentences were to be announced later in December.
The U.S. president said that, while he had promised he wouldn’t interfere with the Department of Justice’s decisions, “It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.”
“The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election,” the older Biden said in a statement released by the White House.
“Then, a carefully negotiated plea deal, agreed to by the Department of Justice, unravelled in the courtroom – with a number of my political opponents in Congress taking credit for bringing political pressure on the process.
Had the plea deal held, it would have been a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter’s case.
“No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong,” continued the U.S. president.
Biden had said several times that he would not pardon his son. His term in office ends when power is handed over to President-elect Donald Trump on January 20.
During the election campaign, Hunter Biden’s legal problems also weighed on his father politically.
Biden was originally set to be the Democrats’ candidate for the White House but withdrew from the race after a disastrous performance in a televised debate against Trump.
He was eventually replaced by his vice president, Kamala Harris, who was defeated by Trump in the November election.
US President-elect Donald Trump described the decision as a “miscarriage of justice.”
He pointed on his Truth Social platform to people jailed for participating in the January 6, 2021 riots on Capitol Hill in Washington, terming them “hostages.”
“Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years?
Such an abuse and miscarriage of Justice!” Trump posted.
Trump is to be inaugurated in Washington on January 20.

Iran promised Biden Govt it will not try to assassinate Donald Trump – Report
Revelations have emerged that Iran promised President Joe Biden’s administration it would not assassinate former President Donald Trump.
Wall Street Journal, citing Fox News, reported that Iran made the unusual assurance to the Biden administration last month in a secret exchange intended to ease tensions.
The assurances reportedly came in a written message to the administration on October 14.
This was after the White House in September said it would take any attempt on Trump’s life as a serious national security that would reportedly “be treated as an act of war.”
DAILY POST reported that the US last week outlined allegations levied at Tehran, detailing a plot by an Iranian agent to assassinate Trump from the campaign trail.
The allegations came after a Pakistani man was charged by prosecutors with plotting to kill Trump.
Iran had long said it would seek revenge for the 2020 killing of its top military commander and chief of Iran’s Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani under Trump.
