18 Police officers involved in N784, 000 bribery cases identified, dismissed, demoted, punished

The Bauchi State Police Command has enforced strict disciplinary measures against 18 officers over professional misconduct, highlighting its dedication to accountability and reform within the force.

During a recent press briefing at the Command headquarters, Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, revealed that these actions are part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to maintain the integrity of the police force.
The disciplinary measures resulted in the recovery of N784,000 from officers found guilty of extortion, with the funds subsequently returned to the victims.

The disciplinary decisions included the dismissal of one constable, demotion of four officers, the issuance of warning letters to six personnel, and reprimands for four others. CP Auwal Musa also praised the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) within the Police Public Relations Department, highlighting its crucial role in addressing public grievances regarding officer misconduct.

In 2024, the CRU received and thoroughly investigated ten complaints, reinforcing the Command’s commitment to transparency and discipline. The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to maintaining high standards of conduct, ensuring public trust, and delivering better service to the community.

The CP said: “A total of eighteen personnel have undergone internal disciplinary measures, demonstrating our dedication to maintaining high operational standards.

“This includes the dismissal of one Police Constable, rank reductions for four officers, issuance of warning letters to six personnel, and reprimand for four others.”
