Lady arrested by Police operatives with firearms, ammunition launch manhunt for accomplice
The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 32-year-old woman, Janet Dominic, for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The arrest was made as part of a statewide arms mop-up operation.
According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Yamu, the suspect was apprehended on April 10, 2025, during a raid carried out by the X-Squad unit in the Iguezemwahu community, located along the Benin-Auchi Road in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area.
During the operation, another individual identified only as Dominic, whose surname remains unknown, managed to flee upon spotting the police.
A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the suspect.
Items recovered from the scene include two single-barrel guns, three pistols, seven live cartridges, one dagger, a trigger mechanism, and a Beretta magazine.
The weapons were reportedly concealed inside the seat of a motorcycle.
Yamu stated that the operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, to combat illegal arms possession and enhance public safety across the state.
