Kwankwaso’s possible defection to APC faces resistance in Kano – Rep member Jubrin

House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin has disclosed that some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are opposed to the potential defection of former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to the party.

Jibrin, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, said several APC stakeholders in Kano, particularly those eyeing the governorship, are resistant to Kwankwaso’s entry.

“If you say Kwankwaso is moving into APC, or we are moving to APC, even within the APC in Kano, you have a lot of people that wouldn’t want him to come, perhaps those who want to be governor, or those who don’t want to be governor,” he noted.

He added that talks on Kwankwaso’s political direction are still ongoing, stressing that his personal focus remains on fostering political stability and supporting a government of national unity.

“I’ve tried to ensure that, in the interest of Kano and by extension Nigeria, there is some sort of stability in our polity.

It is quite a complex process. But everyone knows that I’ve always advocated, even right from the beginning of the government, for us to work with a government of national unity,” Jibrin said.
