Kidnappers demand N250 million ransom for Army General’s release
The former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), retired General Maharazu Tsiga, has been kidnapped and his captors are demanding N250 million in ransom to free him.
On Wednesday evening, more than 100 gunmen broke into Gen. Tsiga’s home in Katsina State and abducted him.
According to Katsina Representative Abdullahi Balarabe Dabai, who represents the Bakori/Danja federal constituency, the assailants surrounded Tsiga’s house before smashing down the doors.
In a bid to understand their intentions, Gen Tsiga stepped outside and confronted the assailants, asking what they were after.
Since the abduction, security forces have launched a vigorous search operation to secure his release.
According to a family source, who spoke on condition of anonymity with Daily Trust, the kidnappers have since made contact with the family, demanding the hefty ransom in exchange for the general’s freedom.
