JUST IN; President Tinubu stumbles in Turkiye during reception parade
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday arrived in Türkiye for an official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and the Eurasian nation.
The visit commenced with a ceremonial reception at the parade ground, where the President briefly fell while participating in the traditional march-past alongside the guard of honour.
The moment drew brief attention but did not affect the proceedings, which continued smoothly.
The trip underscores Nigeria’s commitment to reinforcing its long-standing relationship with Türkiye while expanding cooperation into new strategic areas.
During his stay, President Tinubu is expected to engage in high-level bilateral discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, focusing on trade, investment, security collaboration, and broader regional issues.
Key highlights of the visit include the signing of multiple memoranda of understanding designed to deepen economic and institutional partnerships between both countries, as well as a series of official engagements with senior Turkish government officials.
Upon his arrival, the President was received by top members of the Nigerian delegation, including the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake; and the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd).
