From Commissioner to Governor to Minister now to tenant in minor Party – APC slams Aregbesola

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has blasted former Osun State Governor and current National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, over his recent remarks suggesting that the opposition will seize control of both the presidency and Lagos State in the 2027 polls.

Aregbesola made the bold statement on Saturday during a political event held in Lagos.

The occasion marked the official defection of Moshood Salvador, leader of the Labour Party’s Conscience Forum, along with his supporters, into the ADC.

Reacting to Aregbesola’s comments, the Lagos APC released a statement on Sunday through its spokesperson, Seye Oladejo.

In the statement, the party derided Aregbesola’s political transition, describing him as someone who once held significant influence within the APC but is now seeking relevance in what it called a “fringe opposition party.”

Oladejo further remarked that Aregbesola had gone from being a political “landlord” in the APC to becoming a “tenant” in a minor party, dismissing his 2027 projections as unrealistic and politically motivated rhetoric.

“Here is a man who was once a proud landlord in the progressive family, now reduced to a wandering tenant in a mushroom opposition party.
“From Lagos Commissioner to Osun Governor and then Minister, Aregbe ate, dined, and thrived on the APC table. Today, in a desperate bid for relevance, he is busy setting fire to the same house that made him. That, dear Nigerians, is political suicide of the highest order.

“Ogbeni Aregbesola’s rant is less a threat to APC and more a public obituary of his own political relevance. By turning his back on the progressive family that made him, he has written himself out of history and into the footnotes of infamy.

“If ADC insists on betting its future on a man dismantling his own legacy, then the only “takeover” awaiting them in 2027 will be a takeover by ridicule.”
