JUST IN; MultiChoice announces affordable DStv, GOtv subscriptions for Customers
In a move to increase accessibility and flexibility for its viewers, MultiChoice has launched a range of affordable weekly subscription packages for both DStv and GOtv customers under the campaign ‘Ka Weekie’.
The new offerings, which were announced on Thursday, are aimed at those who prefer short-term payment plans, with prices starting from as low as UGX 5,000.
The DStv Lumba and GOtv Lite packages are the most affordable options, making pay-TV services more accessible to a wider audience in Uganda.
Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR and Communications Manager for MultiChoice Uganda, explained that the initiative is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to cater to the evolving needs of its customers.
“We understand that our subscribers need flexible and affordable options to stay connected to their favorite shows,” Jamugisa said.
“The Ka Weekie launch demonstrates our commitment to providing value while ensuring that entertainment remains within reach for everyone.”
He emphasized that these short-term subscriptions allow viewers to manage their entertainment options according to their personal budgets and lifestyles.
The new 7-day subscription plans cover a variety of viewing preferences and price points: DStv Weekly Packages: Lumba – UGX 5,000 Access – UGX 14,000 Family – UGX 22,000 Compact – UGX 37,000

Colin Asiimwe, Head of Marketing at MultiChoice Uganda, noted that the “Ka Weekie” campaign was developed in direct response to customer feedback.
“You asked, we listened! This is our way of giving subscribers the best in entertainment at affordable rates, allowing them to pay and watch when it suits them,” Asiimwe said.
He pointed out that the new packages are particularly well-suited for daily and weekly earners, frequent travelers, and those who prefer on-demand viewing.
Customers can access the new weekly plans via the MyDStv and MyGOtv mobile apps, by dialing *206#, or using mobile money platforms such as Airtel Money and MTN MoMo.
The packages are also available through selected agents and partner banks nationwide.
Jamugisa further explained that users have the flexibility to switch back to monthly, quarterly, or annual subscriptions at any time by making a full payment or maintaining sufficient account credit. Any active weekly subscription will be deducted from the new plan when transitioning.
