On Thursday, the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, convened a high-level meeting at the Officers’ Mess in Umuahia with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Team Commanders.
The purpose of the gathering was to discuss strategies and reinforce security measures ahead of the Yuletide season.
During the meeting, CP Isa highlighted the establishment of a Special Monitoring Team tasked with closely overseeing the activities of officers on duty.
He underscored the critical role of proactive and vigilant policing during the festive period, stressing that the safety of residents must be a top priority before, during, and after the holidays.
The Commissioner also delivered a firm message regarding professionalism, emphasizing that any officer found engaging in unprofessional behavior such as extortion or mistreatment of the public would be held accountable.
He warned that the Special Monitoring Team would be responsible for identifying and apprehending officers whose actions could damage the reputation of the Abia State Police Command.
The session also provided a platform for officers to offer constructive feedback and suggestions. Topics discussed included enhancing accountability, improving the supervision of personnel, and exploring innovative approaches to bolstering the security of the state.
The meeting reinforced the collective commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for all citizens of Abia.
