JUST IN; Government declares Monday public holiday
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has declared next Monday a public holiday to allow residents to fully participate in the inauguration activities of both himself and his deputy, Olayide Adelami.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor emphasized that the holiday would enable all citizens to partake in the significant event.
The inauguration festivities officially began on Friday with a special Jumat service held at the Akure Central Mosque.
A Church Thanksgiving Service is also scheduled for Sunday at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus House, Oke-Ijebu, Akure, the state capital.
The swearing-in ceremony for Governor Aiyedatiwa and Deputy Governor Adelami will take place on Monday at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.
Following the ceremony, a gala night and book presentation will be held at the International Centre for Culture & Events (The Dome), also in Akure.
In a related development, Governor Aiyedatiwa has announced the cancellation of the usual restriction of movement during the Saturday monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
He clarified that while movement will not be restricted, residents are still encouraged to observe the sanitation and clean their surroundings.
