2023: “El-Rufai using Emir Sanusi to push Presidential ambition”

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has said that Governor Nasir El-Rufai, of Kaduna State was using the dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi to push his presidential ambition.

Kano State Governor Ganduje had dethroned former Emir Sanusi for disrecting the authority. Consequently the former Emir was banished to Nasarawa State, after which an Abuja high court ordered his immidiate release from confinement.

It was El Rufai who drove him out of Awe after the court judgement before Sanusi took a chatered flight to Lagos.

Reacting, Omokri said El-Rufai leveraged on Sanusi’s predicament to power his presidential ambition.

However in a tweet, Reno Omoikiri wrote: “Those claiming Sanusi was deposed to pave way for him to run are naive. Even the North will reject him.

“The real strategy is that @elrufai rushed to his defence in order to cash in on Southern sympathy for Sanusi and use it to power his own Presidential ambition.”
