Protest as gunmen invade Hospital premises kill Physiotherapist on duty
At the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), a young physiotherapist identified only as Alex was reportedly shot dead last Friday by unknown gunmen.
Witnesses say the attackers stormed the hospital premises and opened fire on the victim, believed to be in his twenties, causing panic among patients and medical personnel who fled for safety.
In response to the killing, staff of the Physiotherapy Department staged a peaceful protest, demanding justice for their slain colleague.
In a viral video, the hospital workers were seen holding placards and chanting in outrage over the gruesome incident.
The killing has further fueled growing concerns about the rising wave of violence in Edo State, with many residents calling for urgent government intervention to restore security.
