JUST IN; Avoid crowded areas – Police alert Residents of possible Terrorist attacks

A public warning about a possible terrorist threat that targets public gatherings at key areas throughout the state has been released by the Kano State Police Command.
Following intelligence information of plans to launch assaults on populated areas, the command issued the warning.
In a statement released on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna, urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid crowded places until further notice.
The alert follows concerns about the safety of public spaces and aims to give security forces time to identify and neutralise any potential threats.
“The Kano State Police Command, working alongside other security agencies, has been informed of suspected terrorist groups planning attacks at public gatherings in various parts of the state,” Haruna said.
“We urge all residents to exercise caution, stay away from busy areas, and cooperate with security operatives as they work to safeguard the community.”
As part of enhanced security measures, specialized teams from the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) units have been deployed to key locations.
These teams are on high alert and ready to respond to any suspicious activity.
Residents are encouraged to report any unusual behavior or items to authorities. The police have provided contact numbers—08169884988 and 07067157218—for reporting suspicious individuals or objects.
“The safety of our citizens remains our top priority,” Haruna emphasized, adding that the police are committed to maintaining law and order.
“We ask for the continued support and vigilance of the good people of Kano. Your cooperation is essential in ensuring the security of our state.”
The police are urging everyone to stay alert and follow any further advisories as they continue to monitor the situation.
