“I will destroy Obidient Movement, Peter Obi is my project”
Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, revealed on Thursday the reasons behind his vow to dismantle the Obidient Movement of the Labour Party.
Speaking in an interview with News Central, Omokri, a strong ally of President Bola Tinubu, explained that his decision stemmed from his personal connection to Peter Obi, whom he described as “his project.”
Omokri shared that he had initially recommended Obi as a running mate during the 2019 elections. However, his relationship with the Obidient Movement soured after he and his family were reportedly attacked by its members.
Omokri recounted that despite bringing the issue to Obi’s attention, no action was taken, which led him to declare his intent to “use whatever political machinery” he has at his disposal to take down the movement.
“I took a vow to destroy that movement because Peter Obi was a project of mine. I was responsible for Peter Obi becoming the running mate to Waziri Atiku Abubakar in 2019. I’ve said this publicly. I’ve got the documents. I’m a meticulous record keeper.
“Peter Obi’s movement, Obidients, started attacking me, threatening me, insulting me. That was OK. But then they moved from myself to my family. I just had a daughter at that time. There were multiple death threats.
“They came to my house in the United Kingdom. They trailed my wife and me when we were jogging. They found out my jogging route and pursued me, threatening me,” he stated.
