Gov’t seals Hotel, mortuary after discovery of mutilated corpses, suspected organ-harvesting

The Imo State Government has shut down a hotel and a privately run mortuary in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area after authorities uncovered decomposing and mutilated corpses, sparking allegations of kidnapping and illegal organ harvesting.

The facilities were sealed after a joint inspection led by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Chioma Egu; Chief Pathologist of the Imo State Specialist Hospital, Dr. Ibeaja Okechukwu; and the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma.

Their visit followed intelligence reports linking the locations to a suspect, Stanley Morocco Oparaugo, who has since fled.

According to Police Public Relations Officer Henry Okoye, the operation targeted suspected criminal hideouts in Umuhu Autonomous Community along the Owerri–Aba Expressway.

The team included government officials, the Ngor-Okpala Vigilante Group led by Henry Ikpe, and the council chairperson, Hon. Chika Ibekwe.

During the sweep, security operatives searched a hotel and a private mortuary allegedly owned by Oparaugo.

At the mortuary, investigators discovered bodies in advanced stages of decay and severe mutilation, kept in highly unsanitary conditions.

Officials said the findings strengthened suspicions of criminal activity, including possible organ harvesting.

Both facilities were immediately sealed on government orders. A search of the suspect’s residence also resulted in the recovery of key evidence.

Forensic specialists have secured all exhibits, while the Commissioner of Police assured the public that everyone connected to the operation will be apprehended.

Police have declared Oparaugo wanted and are urging residents with relevant information to report to the nearest station.
