Govt announces donation of patrol vehicle, security gadgets to vigilance group

 

Mr Monsuru Akinloye, Chairman, Eredo Local Council Development Area, Epe Division, has donated a new patrol van and security gadgets to ‘MUWON’ local vigilance group in the area.

During the presentation of the vehicle at the council secretariat, on Thursday, in Eredo, Akinloye  said that the gesture was to assist the vigilance group in carrying out surveillance and intelligence gathering.

According to him, the vehicle and gadgets will facilitate the work of security operatives in the area.

“This development is for the local security operatives to tackle security challenges in the area.

“The council has institutionalised the vigilante group of Nigeria in order to complement the effort of the military, the police and other security agents in the fight against insecurity in our society,”  he said.

Akinloye described the contributions of the vigilantes to the development of the community as outstanding, hence the need to support the group to achieve its operational goals.

He lauded the contributions of the outfit in securing and ensuring effective patrols to tackle crimes across villages, communities and towns in the local government area.

He disclosed that the council had also provided allowances for members of the vigilance group as well as maintenance fees for the vehicle to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.

He warned members of the group to ensure that their operational conduct is guided by security agencies in the area at all times.

The council chairman applauded them for their sacrifices, commitment and support to the security agencies in the local council area.

Akinloye urged members of the vigilance group to maintain the highest level of professionalism while performing their duties and to act as exemplary ambassadors for the community.

He emphasised the crucial role they play in ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents.

The council chairman also highlighted his administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security across the community.

“We have consistently supported the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies within their  jurisdiction, and we will continue to do so.

“As we hand over this patrol van today, we reiterate our commitment to providing total support for all security agencies in Eredo LCDA.

This is to ensure that our community remains a safe and secure environment for all.

“Let us continue to work together in the spirit of cooperation and vigilance for the prosperity of our community,” he said.

In his response, Mr Muyiwa Ogunlana, the vigilante team leader, applauded the chairman for his kind gestures and promised to use the vehicle and other security equipment judiciously. (NAN)
