Governor allegedly repackaged FGs palliatives rice shared it to Party members
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State has voiced strong opposition to what it describes as the overwhelming influence of the Chukwuma Soludo-led All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) over the state’s dealings with the federal government under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In a statement made over the weekend, Mr. Basil Ejidike, the APC Chairman in Anambra, criticized what he called the undue dominance of APGA in federal matters concerning the state.
Ejidike argued that the constant presence of APGA nominees in federal appointments related to Anambra was troubling, alleging that such appointments reflected an imbalance in the representation of the state at the national level.
Ejidike further alleged that the rice distribution, which was intended to ease the hardship experienced by citizens, was unfairly handled.
According to him, the rice allocated to Anambra was rebagged with the image of Governor Soludo and distributed exclusively to APGA members during the last Christmas season, leaving others in the state at a disadvantage.
The APC has expressed concern that this growing dominance by APGA in federal matters is undermining the influence and participation of the APC in Anambra’s political landscape.
Appealing to Tinubu, Ejidike said: “Sir, may I seize this opportunity to draw your attention to some challenges confronting the APC in Anambra State, that require your kind intervention.
“The issue of appointments made by the Federal government without recourse to the party is inimical to the growth and success of the party in our state, as these appointees do not reckon with the party at the state level.
“Whereby, most of those who have made and are still making heavy sacrifices for the party have not been adequately rewarded and appreciated, many of those who have gotten juicy Federal Government appointments in the past were mainly non-party members, drawn especially from our rival All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
“At the ward, local government and state levels, our members are being discriminated against, as APGA does not recognize or reckon with those who are not their members in the distribution and allocation of government appointments and incentives.
“More worrisome is the fact that what we as a state get from the federal government as incentives and palliatives are usually sent through the state government.
“Sequel to the above, non-APGA members are denied access to them. It is on record that bags of rice sent as palliatives by the federal government were repackaged, and Governor Soludo’s pictures and APGA logo embossed on those bags, thereby giving the impression that they were provided by the governor.
“This arrangement has continued to diminish our party’s influence and reach within the state, and we are terrified to say the least.
“APC in Anambra have come with a passionate appeal, asking that you (Ganduje) intervene and save our members in Anambra from neglect.
“Your kind intervention, Sir, will bolster the morale of our committed party men and women towards the task ahead.”

“There is no time for selfishness, because one of the things that we will all do is for the progress of the society. No man can do it alone, and so the time when we were operating individually and creating power to ourselves is over.
“It is now time to join hands together and take advantage of this time. Don’t think you have time. Even if you are posted to a ministry for three months, make a difference.
“Everyone of us, apart from myself and the deputy governor, no one is guaranteed a duty post. Do your best in every position you are and be sincere. Yes it is good to be loyal to me, but what I want from this moment is that your loyalty shift to the God of heaven.
“So, you must always try on a daily basis to keep a clear conscience before God and before men. I will like to see us work unsupervised, I want us to give our best because our people are dying, our people are suffering, our people are living in poverty and they have given us the trust to do something about their situation.
“We can’t wait no more, the time to make a difference is now. And I want to urge you wherever is your duty post, do your best and stretch yourself so that a solution can be provided to our people. May we not fail,” he said.

JUST IN; IGP bans Policemen wearing mufti from carrying guns, riffles
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has directed that henceforth, “No operative should be seen carrying assault arms (rifles) while dressed in civilian attire (mufti).”
He also issued a stern warning to all officers regarding serious breaches of human rights, emphasizing the duty of the Force to uphold these rights.
Speaking during a virtual meeting he convened with strategic police managers, yesterday, Egbetokun frowned at such acts, having received various complaints regarding human rights violations through the Force’s complaint channels.
A statement by Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, yesterday, said the meeting was in a bid to reinforce operational integrity and ensure effective management within the Nigeria Police Force,
He said: “During this critical session, the IGP addressed several pressing issues, which aim to bolster the ethical and professional conduct of police personnel across the nation.
“The IGP states that any conduct violating human rights will not be tolerated and will be met with severe consequences.
“The IGP also warned all tactical squads against the misuse of power and improper dressing, emphasizing the importance of operating in approved uniforms. No operative should be seen carrying assault arms (rifles) while dressed in civilian attire (mufti).
“All tactical squads are to ensure compliance with the standard operating procedure, while properly dressed in the assigned uniform for the particular squad.
“The IGP further emphasized on the indiscriminate transfer of cases without the written approval of the IGP. This conduct is highly prohibited and would no longer be tolerated, as such exposes the parties to unnecessary burdens and delayed justice in their cases.
“The IGP concluded by directing that all ranks must work collaboratively to prevent any irresponsible acts that can tarnish the reputation of the Force.”

BREAKING; Immigration officer caught with assorted rifles arrested by Policemen
Police operatives from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command have arrested a Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) officer in possession of a cache of firearms and ammunition.
The arrest took place Monday afternoon near the Zuma area of the city.
The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, is under intense questioning after failing to provide a reasonable explanation for his possession of the weapons or the intended destination for the firearms.
Authorities suspect the officer may have been involved in an illegal arms deal with criminals.
The arrest followed a tip-off from informants concerning a missing person, which led to the discovery of the weapons.
Among the recovered items were multiple rifles and pistols, including two CZ Scorpion rifles, four AK-47 magazines, two Diakon pistols, and over 100 rounds of ammunition.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, confirmed the suspect’s detention to The Nation, stating that the officer is currently being interrogated. He assured the public that further details will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
